again on a similar note to my prev oppenheimer post, the answer to “so you think people shouldn’t be allowed to make films about bad people?” is i think white man auteur filmmakers are incapable of not being bootlickers when it comes to those bad people and should stop getting $100M+ budgets to lick boots for three hours of runtime. actually in fact my biggest hot take is that $100M+ budget blockbusters should no longer exist and that funding should be redistributed to multiple $10-25M (or less) films. then it would matter less if one of those films was a feature-length toy commercial or a blatant usmilitary recruitment ad or a deep exploration of the psyche of a historical war criminal because OTHER films that are not those things would also get made and get seen by broader mainstream audiences. it wouldn’t be exactly two titles (maybe three) dominating the entire public consciousness for months on end. it’s literally just get more voices and more varied stories in the mix that’s literally what all of this always boils down to oh my god how is this so hard to understand
